Vote by Mail Application

The deadline to request a vote by mail kit has passed. You can still vote in person at the advance poll or on election day:

  • Advance Poll – An advance poll will be held on September 18, 2021 between 8 am and 8 pm at the Reid Community Centre (126 Smallwood Drive, Mount Pearl)
  • Election Day – Election Day be held on September 28, 2021, between 8 am and 8 pm. To find out where you can vote on election day, please click here.

You are now able to vote in our municipal election by mail! Use the form below to request a vote by mail kit. Also, please read the information below carefully:

  • Once you request a vote by mail kit, you can only vote in this way. You cannot vote on election day or at the advance poll. 
  • The deadline to request a vote by mail kit is September 15, 2021.
  • Regardless of when you request a vote by mail kit, you can expect to receive the kit in September.

 

Instructions for Voting By Mail (VBM)

1. To vote by mail, residents must first request to receive a Voter Kit. You can request to receive a Vote By Mail Kit by using the online registration system below. To register, voters will complete a voter declaration form. Identification, that is satisfactory to the Returning Officer, must be supplied for each person registering in order to receive a vote by mail kit. Please click here to view a list of acceptable pieces of identification.

2. Once you request a vote by mail kit, you can only vote in this way. You cannot vote on election day or at the advance poll.

3. Immediately upon receipt of the voter kit, a voter may send their return envelope and ballot envelope by mail by September 23, 2021 which will ensure delivery to the City of Mount Pearl by 8 pm on election day. This deadline will be clearly indicated on the voting instructions included in the voter kit. Ballots received after 8pm on election day, regardless of postmark, will be considered spoiled and will not be counted.

4. In addition to mailing their return envelope and ballot envelope, voters will also have the
option to:

  • Drop their return envelope and ballot envelope into a drop box located at City
    Hall up to 8pm on election day. Ballots received after this time will be considered
    spoiled and will not be counted.
  • Drop their return envelope and ballot envelope into either polling station between
    8am and 8pm on election day.
