Mark Rice has had the pleasure of serving you as your city councillor for the past 4 years. His commitment and dedication to this elected position has been unwavering. His professional education and experience in infrastructure, facility management and budgeting has been a tremendous asset when serving on committees such as Planning Engineering and Development and Corporate Services (Finance)/Public Works. Being able to dissect information presented and understand the impact decisions have on operations of the city as well as citizens is what he brings to the table.

His sincerity, loyalty, and integrity is immeasurable and evident in his volunteerism. He takes great pride in being a doer and being engaged in all aspects of the community. You can find him calling bingo on Wednesday afternoons with the seniors independence group, cleaning up the Waterford Valley River as a Rotarian, leading a dog walk on the trails, serving and cleaning up at city family breakfasts, shovelling out neighbours during winter, delivering community suppers to those in need and the list goes on.

He and his family have lived in Mount Pearl for almost 40 years. His slogan “the people’s representative” is exactly what he promised to be 4 years ago, and he has delivered on that promise. He has listened to concerns, advocated for citizens’ issues, lobbied for change in certain areas and has a real desire to move Mount Pearl in a positive direction into the future. As he stated during his nomination signing: “I’m not done yet.”
