Don has lived in Mount Pearl his entire life and raised his children there. He is very familiar with the city, the community, and many of its residents.

His educational background includes a Vocational Education Degree from Memorial University and a Civil Engineering Technology Diploma (HONS) from College of the North Atlantic (CONA).

Don worked with BellAliant for 28 years as a Facilities Engineer and a Product Manager, gaining invaluable skills in sales and marketing, as well as in managing people and budgets.

In addition to working at BellAliant, Don has spent the last 13 years as a City Inspector with the City of Mount Pearl. This has given him an understanding of the internal operations of the city, insight into The National Building Code, Provincial Building Regulations, the City of Mount Pearl’s Municipal Plan (2010) and the City’s Development and Building Regulations.

Don is very involved as a volunteer at the municipal, regional, provincial and national levels. He is currently Chair of the Mount Pearl Sport Alliance Awards Committee, Member of the HealthCare Foundation Golf Tournament Fund Raising Committee, Member & Past President of the Royal St. John’s Regatta Committee, Chair of the RSJR Hall of Fame Committee, Off Ice Official for the Quebec Major Junior League (Newfoundland Regiment) and most recently Venue Team Lead for the 2025 Canada Summer Games.

For Don, his volunteerism has always been about Building Community and working together to Inspire Change for continuous improvement.
